Erin Guenterberg of Lake County Family Fun As a local business here in Waukesha, Floor Coverings International loves being tied into the community.  Today on the blog we’re thrilled to bring you an interview with Erin Guenterberg of lakecountryfamilyfun.com. If you’re looking for events and activities in the area, this site is essential.  You can keep up with Erin and Lake Country Family Fun on Facebook, Instagram Pinterest & Twitter.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I am a wife and mother to two, originally from Southeastern Wisconsin. I love being active and social and enjoying all the fun events, activities, and attractions in this area, specifically the lakes. I try to prioritize my health, so you can find me taking yoga weekly or collaborating with a number of local gyms, trying out their classes. Most Saturdays, I can be found at local farmers markets as well and cooking from scratch at home.
How did you first get involved with Lake Country Family Fun and what do you love most about it?
I left my full time job to become a stay-at-home mom when my oldest daughter was born.  It was after that, that I started to look for activities for her and I to do out in the community.  It was at a play date outing at a local coffee shop story time, that I met Melissa Peterson, creator of Lake Country Family Fun.  I then found myself, bumping into Melissa out in the community frequently, and her website became my go-to resource for all family activities in the Lake Country area.  She later hired me to do sales work for Lake Country Family Fun, and upon her moving out of the area, I purchased the business. I have been very excited to continue Lake Country Family Fun for families in the greater Waukesha area.

What inspires you most about your community?
What inspires me most about my community, is how it actually feels like a community. I love connecting with people, running into them around town, smiling, saying hi…And there are so many great events and festivals throughout the area that are great for promoting community values, that continue to strengthen the communities in which we live, work, and play.
What do you see as the best benefit of supporting local businesses?
The best benefit of supporting local businesses is improving the local economy. Many of the local business owners live and play in the same town or county in which they work. This keeps dollars local and benefits all that live here. Another great benefit is keeping our communities unique. Each community within the greater Waukesha area, has its own unique downtown area or commercial area. For example, I love visiting and supporting the local shops along Pewaukee Beach, downtown Delafield, and downtown Oconomowoc to also take in the beautiful lake views of Pewaukee Lake, Nagawicka Lake, and Fowler Lake/Lac la Belle, respectively. The charming downtown area of Hartland, Wales, Brookfield, and Waukesha also get their charm from the small businesses and coffee shops that are located there.

Can you tell us about an event coming up that you are particularly excited for or proud of? Lake Country Family Fun is particularly excited for our Annual Halloween Costume Swap. We are in our 6th year this year, and love this free event for the community. Community members can swap out last year’s costumes for a new-to-them costume for this year’s Halloween season at no cost! The event occurs at a local business, Roots Coffeebar and Cafe located in downtown Oconomowoc. Roots also has a location in downtown Waukesha. The event also supports the local Oconomowoc Food Pantry.
