Please tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a stay at home mom and mental health advocate based out of Connecticut. I’m an advocate for mental health and foster care. I’m also a crochet artist and like to spend my time crocheting toys for little ones!
What’s one type of flooring you use in your children’s room and why?
Currently we have carpeting. Just very basic carpets. And as great as it’s been, especially since my one year old loves to walk and run, I’m dreaming of hardwood floors in our home.
Why did you decide to start a blog? What do you enjoy about blogging?
I decided to start my blog (www.momwifelady.com) after I gave birth. The goal was to highlight the adventures of a mother living with mental illness. I wanted to break barriers and to help make the world a better place for my son, being that he’s prone to mental illness via genetics. I love blogging; I’ve connected with people all around the world and I’ve even gone viral a few times. My dream was to be a writer growing up, so for this to actually work out has been incredible.
Where do you find most of your inspiration?
A lot of my inspiration comes from my family. But I’m also very inspired by music and nature. A lot of ideas come up when I hear song lyrics — and even when I’m driving around looking at the scenery. I’m lucky to live in New England and to watch ever changing weather, see big cities, and still be close to the woods and ocean. It’s a very beautiful, moving area, and it’s easy to get lost in thought. I’m also very inspired by meeting new people. I’m very moved by the thought that every person you see has a story. I’m fascinated by that.
Can you explain a recent project you’ve been working on?
I’m currently running my blog and shop, but I also have a book coming out next year! It’s titled “Free Tayco“, and it’s a memoir, the first in a series of memoirs. The book will be highlighting my adoption, struggles with mental health and abusive relationships, and eventually finding myself. It’ll end off at my pregnancy, and the sequel will be highlighting married life and parenting when you are chronically sick. I’m very much looking forward for it to be released. You can keep up to date on the book release at www.Facebook.com/freetayco and of course at www.momwifelady.com and you can shop with me at www.facebook.com/mwlstore.
